Centurion Design Award Winners

Heather Moore, first time Centurion exhibitor, won in the Gold category for this wrap ring framed in cognac diamonds and personalized with the names of Moore’s children.

Part of the festivities of the recently concluded Centurion luxury jewelry tradeshow in Scottsdale, Ariz., was the third annual Centurion Design Awards. The competition was open to all exhibitors at the show and about two-thirds participated, according to show officials. Retailers who attended the show voted for their favorite pieces, which determined the winners.

The winners in each of the 11 categories were announced by The Centurion E-Newsletter and are as follows:


Bridal: Frederic Sage for a diamond pave engagement ring.



Colored Stone: Jack Abraham (above), with a ruby ring, and Jewels by Star, with an emerald ring (below), tied.




Colored Stone Fashion: Spark Creations with a pair of green tourmaline drop earrings.


Contemporary Metals: Todd Reed with a palladium and diamond cuff bracelet.


Diamond Classic: Kwiat, for its limited-edition “Revel” earrings.


Diamond Fashion: Roberto Coin with a black and white diamond and green garnet cobra bracelet (above), and Siera Jewelry with a diamond floral pendant in 18k gold and black rhodium on a black rhodium chain (below), tied.


Gold: Heather Moore with a special-order wrap ring framed in cognac diamonds and personalized with the names of Moore’s children (top photo).


Pearl: Yvel with a one-of-a-kind 18k white gold and diamond necklace set with a baroque freshwater pearl.


Platinum: Gumuchian with its versatile platinum and diamond “Bow-lero” necklace.


Silver: Charles Garnier Paris with its “constellation” finish wavy cuff bracelet.


Watches: Frederique Constant’s Lady Slimline Joaillerie.

Centurion 2011 Jewelry Design Winners


Jewelry retailers at the Centurion 2011 luxury jewelry show voted for 11 winners in the trade fair’s inaugural Centurion Design Awards Competition. Voting was held during Centurion’s 10th Anniversary invitation only show in Tucson, held January 29 – February 2. More than 80 exhibitor competed in 11 categories, including: Alternative/Contemporary Metals, Bridal, Colored Stone Classic, Colored Stone Fashion, Diamond Classic, Diamond Fashion, Gold, Pearl, Platinum, Sterling Silver, and Watches.

Information about the winners in each category follows, along with images of the winning pieces.

Category: Alternative / Contemporary Metals ~ Winner: Edward Mirell
Three-tiered necklace spotlighting the company’s patented Black Ti™ brought to brilliant color through an anodizing process finished with a laser pattern. MSRP: $359.


Category: Bridal ~ Winner: Norman Silverman
Oval cut center diamond and oval cut side stones surrounded by pavé diamonds in single-shank platinum ring.




Category: Colored Stone Classic ~ Winner: Fai Dee
18k gold and silver ring with a center Burmese sugarloaf cabochon ruby of 15.08 carats. Retail price: $200,000. 

Category: Colored Stone Fashion ~ Winner: Frederic Sage
18 karat white, yellow and pink gold with pear shaped cabochon tri-color natural tourmaline and diamond pendant with link chain. Tourmaline: 64.15cts.; 134 diamonds totaling 1.96 cts.



Category: Diamond Classic ~ Winner: Sethi Couture, a div. of Manak Jewels Inc.
The True Romance chandelier earrings with scalloped borders, rose cut diamonds, and accents of natural yellow-green diamonds evoke a sentimentality for what has been worn and passed down through generations.  


Category: Diamond Fashion ~ Winner: Siera Jewelry
Fashion ring made with 18k white gold featuring about seven carats white diamonds and about eight carats black diamonds.




Category: Gold ~ Winner: Paramount Gems
Handmade 18k black gold and diamond bangle bracelet with 521 diamonds totaling 4.25 cts. Suggested price: $14,995.





Category: Pearl ~ Winner: Yvel
Color Fresh Water pearls combining 18k yellow gold set with 5.27ct. natural cognac diamonds.





Category: Platinum ~ Winner: Uneek Jewelry
This 5-ct., pear-shaped removable pendant is complimented by a procession of 19.62 cts. round and pear shaped diamonds set in platinum. 764 micro-pave colorless diamonds accentuate the necklace adding 9.60 cts. for a total weight of 34.22 cts.

Category: Sterling Silver ~ Winner: Raymond Hak Couture
This bangle is from the Glamour Collection features 1.50 ct. GH-VS2 diamonds. Suggested retail is $2,500.

Category: Watches ~ Winner: Frédérique Constant
Frédérique Constant won with this Lady Automatic Chocolate Double Heart Beat watch, created by women for women, one of its most successful timepieces in the collection.
